Srđan Šimac

Srđan Šimac, Ph.D., was born 1961, Split, Croatia. Judge and former President of the High Commercial Court of the Republic of Croatia; mediation pioneer in Croatia and among founders of court mediation program; president of the Croatian Mediation Association; arbiter at Permanent Arbitration Court at Croatian Chamber of Commerce in Zagreb; judge more than 25 years, mediator from 2003., mediated more than 360 cases (mostly commercial disputes) including international ones; mediation trainer from 2006., trained several hundreds of mediators; mediation lecturer, speaker and promoter nationally and internationally (USA, Canada, Great Britain, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Russia, Bulgaria, Albania, Hungary, Moldavia, Slovenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia, Monte Negro, Macedonia); an author of many articles on mediation; an author of Ph.D. thesis – “Mediation as Generator of Change in Judicial System and Legal Profession”; visitor scholar at Faculties of Law and Economic; educator of judges at Croatian Judicial Academy and abroad; a member of the Croatian National ADR Council; a Board member of Groupment European des magistrates pour la mediation (GEMME), JAMS International Weinstein Fellow 2010; CEDR accredited, CEDR and EBRD international mediation expert; mediator (conciliator) of ICSID list – International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes in Washington, a member of CEDR Global Mediation Panel; a member of List of Practitioners in International Mediation and ADR of Vienna International Arbitral Center (VIAC) in Vienna; CEDR Award 2012 winner for ADR and Civil Justice Innovation; Croatian Mediation Association Award 2013 and Slovenian Association of Mediators Award 2016.
